What will come suddenly? Jesus, His Sign, The Rapture, the clouds with power and great glory, The Shaking, The Resurrection, signs in the sun, moon, and stars?

There is quite an interest in the timing of End Time Events because of research on the Jewish Feasts and Blood Moons. In times past, such a specific approach would have garnered the usual scriptural retort:

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. (Matthew 24:36; Mark 13:32)

When Jesus comes this time, he will not be coming down to our level, we must come up to his, which will be easy for some, but harder for others. To know the day he returns to earth is like knowing when the final bell will ring. But of more importance are the warning bells and when they will sound.

Warning bells are wake-up calls that are meant to bring people closer to God. Some may be unpleasant. Fortunate for the innocent and the faithful, they have been promised deliverance from the unpleasant ones through The Rapture. The Sign will be a wakeup call, The Rapture will be a wakeup call, The Shaking, etc.

Early wakeup calls have already come by way of Books (Left Behind series) and movies (The Rapture, 1991 – Mimi Rogers & David Duchovny; The Moment After, 1999; Left Behind, 2005 – Louis Gossett, Kirk Cameron; Rapture Palooza, 2013 – Comedy, Craig Robinson, Anna Kendrick;  Final: The Rapture, 2013 – Timothy Chey; Left Behind, 2014 – Nicolas Cage).

Like a thief in the night:

3 Hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. (Revelation 3:3)

15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. (Revelation 16:15)

In the following  verse Paul implies that the timing can be known by the faithful:

1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, (1 Thessalonians 5:1–9)

According to Paul, the faithful can know the timing and according to others, the Jewish Feasts and Blood Moons could possibly identify the time. But of which event? The final bell or the warning bells? The question “Which event or stage are the Feasts and Blood Moons referring to?” has been overlooked.

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Matthew 24:29–32)

24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.
26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. (Mark 13:24–27)

The account of Luke provides more insights than either Matthew or Mark. For that reason it is the go-to gospel prophecy of End Time Events. Verse 24 provides a line of demarcation for what has already happened to the Jews. Verse 36 contains The Rapture promise: “worthy to escape all these things” and verses 25-26 identify what it is The Raptured will escape: “signs in the sun, moon, stars, nations perplexed, seas roaring, powers of heaven shaken, etc.”

24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom [City] of God is nigh at hand.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. (Luke 21:34–37)

Thanks to Luke we know that Jesus’ arrival (i.e. The Sign of His Coming.) is one event, which is preceded by another event – “signs in the sun, moon, stars, nations perplexed, seas roaring, powers of heaven shaken, etc.”, which is preceded by yet another event –The Rapture.

The phrase “worthy to escape” encompasses all of Jesus’ parables, teachings, and warnings, plus those of his prophets and apostles, both ancient and modern.

“All these things” means those worthy CAN escape ALL that is meant to punish the wicked.

The promise to “stand before the Son of Man” is a glorious promise at the Wedding Banquet.
